    Curious about what it's like being a Freeman Graduate Student? Come try it out! This experience begins with an Admissions Team Introduction, an overview of our Graduate Business Programs and application components, a building tour, and concludes with a class visit.

    Tentative Schedule:
    • 8:45am: Meet the Graduate Admissions Staff & Discuss Program, Application Process
    • 9:00am: Tour the Business School Building
    • 9:15am: Break
    • 9:30am - 10:45am: Sit in and observe a Graduate Level Course ENRG 7200 Energy Fund & Trading with Professor John Foreman
    The course will cover the fundamentals of renewable and conventional energy production, transportation, processing, power, and the related marketing and trading activities. Structure of physical and financial markets, risk management practices, and portfolio modeling will be covered. The course will cover how the energy markets have evolved as more U.S. federal and local government incentives and mandates have increased the demand of renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, and biomass. The course will include interactive trading in the Freeman School's state-of-the-art trading room, which will focus on the futures market of the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) to test student-developed trading strategies, mark-to-market models, and risk management tactics used in today's fast-paced energy trading environment.
     

    John S. Foreman III is the Chief Operating Officer for the oilfield and industrial service companies owned by Black Cliffs Partners (BCP), a boutique private equity firm headquartered in Salt Lake City. He joined BCP in 2021 to lead mergers and acquisitions and company strategy. Prior to BCP, Mr. Foreman served approximately 15 years with PetroQuest Energy, a publicly traded, independent exploration and production company headquartered in Lafayette, LA. Mr. Foreman was the Oil and Gas Marketing Manager and served in engineering, operational and financial roles.
